BREAKDOWN – SPIRIT & TRUTH

John 4:22, Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

We all know the scripture John 4:24, God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

We are having wonderful worship services and some are truly worshiping God in spirit but are we worshiping God in truth.

Are we really worshiping God in SPIRIT and in TRUTH when we’re having our worship services?

Are we truly worshiping God if we’re not worshiping God in SPIRIT and in TRUTH?

Let’s look at the scripture meaning of worship, spirit and truth, this will provide us with clarification for our worship to be complete.

Since the scripture tells us that WE MUST worship God in spirit and in truth, are we truly honoring God by our worship.

Let’s break down this scripture to obtain TRUTH

John 4:23 But the hour (point of time, definite time) cometh, and now is, when the true (sincere, genuine, real) worshipers shall worship (to kiss the hand, to fall upon the knees and touch the ground with the forehead as an expression of profound reverence, to prostrate) the Father in spirit (the power by which the human being feels, thinks, decides, the Holy Spirit) and in truth: (what is true in things appertaining to God and the duties of man, moral and religious truth, in reality, in fact)  for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

BREAKDOWN: The definite time has comes and now is when the genuine worshipers shall fall to their knees, lay prostrate in profound reverence to the Father is the power of the Holy Spirit and in true things pertaining to God: for the Father seek such to worship him.

Now that the scripture has been broken down, can we take a minute here to reflect on our lives? Can we look into the mirror and say, “I’m worshiping God in spirit and in truth?”

The truth is we have all fallen short in worshiping the true and living God. Are you kneeling down, laying prostrate are the words that we’re speaking worshiping God in truth or are your words what others tell you to say.

GOD IS LOOKING FOR TRUE WORSHIPERS!

WORSHIPING GOD IN SPIRIT & TRUTH

WORSHIP means:

to kiss the hand to (towards) one, in token of reverence

in the NT by kneeling or prostration to do homage (to one) or make obeisance, whether in order to express respect or to make supplication.

TRUTH means:

what is true in any matter under consideration.

what is true in things appertaining to God and the duties of man, moral and religious truth.

the true notions of God which are open to human reason without his supernatural intervention.

the truth as taught in the Christian religion, respecting God and the execution of his purposes through Christ, and respecting the duties of man, opposing alike to the superstitions of the Gentiles and the inventions of the Jews, and the corrupt opinions and precepts of false teachers even among Christians.

that candour of mind which is free from affection, pretence, simulation, falsehood, deceit.

When the bible speaks of worshiping God in truth, what is the bible saying. Worshiping and honoring God’s truth, God’s word is Him and we must worship in truth.

How do you reverence God in spirit and in truth? By moving in spirit and speaking truth, living and loving truth.

John  4:23  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

John  4:24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

1 Corinthians  14:25  And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

BECAUSE WORSHIP

WORSHIP IN TRUTH

Oh Gracious Father God, Ruler of the heavens and the earth we come seeking thy presence and worshiping you in truth, knowing that your Word is true.

We worship because we know that God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

We honor, glorify and bless thy name because the LORD our God is one LORD. The LORD our God is a merciful God😉 he will not forsake us neither destroy us, nor forget the covenant of our fathers which he sware unto them.

We adore thy power and thy wonderous works for what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

We bow down in thy presence because the eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them

You are our God because the LORD our God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

We worship and honor you  because  you are our strength and power: and you maketh our way perfect

We come before thy presence because God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

We serve thee and worship you because you are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

We worship your truth knowing that the LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.

WORSHIPING THE LORD REIGNS FOREVER

WORSHIP IN TRUTH

We love and adore this Most Holy God, you reign forever, you are King of kings, and Lord of lords and we bless thy holy name.

The LORD shall reign for ever and ever.

The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD.

We bow down before thee, the earth bows down at thy glory, we humbly ourselves in reverence to your power and majesty.

Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

We honor thy truth knowing that your word was fulfilled when you said that you would raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

We bless thy name oh Great God knowing that Christ shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

And even in the times of revelation we believe thy Word is truth and that as it is written the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

We thank thee Heavenly Father for thy truth, thy Word is true.
