The “church” have been debating baptism for as long as I can remember. The church of God in Christ will tell you the bible says baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost and that’s exactly what they say doing baptism. Then you have Pentecostals, Non-Denominations telling you that the bible says baptize in the name of Jesus. Then let’s not get into a debate over the method of baptizing someone. They sprinkle, immerse, dunk heads etc. But rather let’s look at how this long debate has an answer and it is really simple.
Have you ever been in a situation where everybody is correct and instead of finding the common denominator, pride gets in the way of resolution. Well, this is the stigma of today’s church. Everybody want to be right and everybody else is wrong, and here I am adding more fuel to the fire.
Today, we now even have wikipedia telling us the that baptism in the name of Jesus is the “proper method” because the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are titles. Well I would like to enter into this long standing debate to say, “THEY’RE BOTH RIGHT & WRONG.” Did I say that!!!
Yes the bible says in Matthew 28th chapter to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.” Then you have in Acts the 2nd chapter that says, “Then Peter said unto them, repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost,”
Before I continue, I am not saying that everyone should be baptized again if you have already been baptized, but I am saying that when you know the truth, live free in truth, teach truth and teach it to the next generation.
When we take away pride and look at the scriptures the way they are written, you will find out that it is telling exactly how to baptize. Let’s break it down like this:
What is the Father’s name: Lord
What is the Son’s name: Jesus
What is the Holy Ghost name: Christ
What is Jesus name: Lord Jesus Christ.
The correct name that all denominations should be baptizing in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Ghost and in Jesus name is Lord Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus Christ fulfills every baptism scripture and ends the debate of who’s right and who’s wrong.
Consider it, pray about it, the same way that I prayed and studied, the Spirit of Truth is still speaking truth. No more debate, let’s stop these leaders in their track and teach all men to baptize in Lord Jesus Christ.
